![]() Sometimes a book ends, and you're never really sure how to interpret the ending. That was the case for me after reading the Compound, which you definitely have to read BEFORE you read The Fallout. I was pretty sure that Bodeen intended us to believe that the evil, crazy father, Mr. Yanakakis, wasn't dead, but when a sequel didn't follow, I started to doubt myself. I just found The Fallout on the store shelves a couple weeks ago, but apparently it's been out for a while. The author wrote this in response to her many fans who kept asking what happens next. Bodeen ties up all the loose ends in a very clever yet believable way. The family moves to a new house, to avoid the media circus surrounding their reappearance, Eli, Lexie and their mom struggles to adapt to a world that has continued to exist for the six years they thought it didn't, and Eddy tries to get over the fact that his family isn't dead. Then some strange circumstances start to spook Eli a bit and he becomes convinced that someone is following them. He's determined to protect his family and do whatever he has to do in order to get back to some semblance of normalcy, but not every wants what he does.

I love a good mystery, and although I correctly guessed the murderer in the first chapter, I still thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns.
